Hearts a Flutter Skinny Bag Treat Toppers

Alright, one more day of this belated-Valentine treat ideas!  Today are some treat bags I put together as examples for a friend of what she could do with the Hearts a Flutter stamp set and framelits, and the 1”x8” skinny cello bags.

So, this is the first round of ideas I was playing with.  All are variations on the same theme, but all slightly different.  See —

And as I was making these toppers, I found myself thinking that the Pink Pirouette cardstock that was the base was just a bit too plain, so I had to do some extra stamping of course!

This was the project that made me discover how much I love the look of the tone-on-tone stamping of the “little hearts in a heart shape” stamp image and then randomly stamping the outline heart stamp on top in Early Espresso ink.  It may be subtle but I just LOVE IT!

TIPS:

  • When I am assembling these skinny cello bags, I put the opening to the bag at the bottom of the project (aka – opposite end as the treat topper).  That way, if someone wants to get at the treat but not eat/use all of it, they can have some and then seal it up and not destroy the topper!
  • For making my toppers, I cut rectangles and folded them over the end of the cello bag.  Then used sticky strip to seal them closed:

So, again, change out the colors and the sentiment and you could have some cute Easter basket treat ideas!

Hershey’s Nugget Treat Box with Hearts a Flutter

Ok, ok, I know Valentine’s Day was yesterday but I got behind on my blogging and still had some cute projects that I wanted to share.  So Pin these projects or save the pictures so you can remember them for next year – or change up the colors and stamps and make cute little goodies for Easter or Mother’s Day!

First up – a cute little box for holding Hershey’s nuggets and a matching card!

I grabbed some of the Love Impressions Specialty Paper – now found on the clearance rack for only $4.79 a pack! – and got to work decorating.

I used my Heart punch and the Hearts a Flutter stamp set and framelits to create the decoration on the front of the card.

Then I used more of the paper to wrap my nuggets so they look cute when you slide the box out of the sleeve.  The nugget wraps were 1” x 3.5” if you are going to do this at home.  So you can get a TON out of one sheet of pattern paper.

Then I made a matching 4” x 4” card to go with the box.  Here is a close up of the “fun” part of the card!

TIPS:

  • Grab the hearts embossing folder from the Adorning Accents embossing folder set.  These are not at wide as your standard embossing folder, but are perfect for adding a fun trim to your cards.
  • Stamp your sentiment on a rectangle of whisper white cardstock and sponge the edge with Pink Pirouette ink for a subtle pop to your saying.
  • Get the cute scallop trim by cutting out 2 of the scallop tags from the Hearts a Flutter framelits and adhere them to the back of your rectangle!

If you want to make your own nugget box, I found this great post on SplitcoastStampers where a wonderful stamper named Chris posted templates for pretty much every size and shape of nugget box.  I used the Nugget_Box_6_short template.

So, make and enjoy!

Happy Valentine Heart Treat Topper

Anyone else out there a sucker for a good deal or at least cute things for a small price tag?  Anyone?  Smile

Well, I don’t normally do little treat bags and toppers but when I saw the limited time Valentine Bundles that Stampin’ Up! was offering, I thought the Happy Valentine Heart was so cute and it was so cheap that I just had to go for it.  I mean, seriously, $5.95 for a stamp and 50 treat bags?? Everyone I know is going to get treats this year. hee hee

So, this was the first project I created with my new goodies:

Like I said, I hadn’t played with these 1”x8” cello bags before so I was totally winging it.   But I think it turned out pretty cute.  Wanna see the topper up close?  Well, here you go –

I used my Window Frame framelits and some Core’dinations cardstock (I swear, I didn’t realize how much I love that stuff until I keep trying to grab it for my projects and I get sad I haven’t ~gasp~ ordered any of the new colors!  Guess what I’ll be fixing on my order on Tuesday? Winking smile)

I made the topper so you could get to the treats without needing to destroy the topper.  I even made a video so you could see how I put this all together.

REMINDER – This Bundle is only available through tomorrow (1/21)

So, have fun and enjoy this project.  Let me know what you think too!  For my first project like this, I had a lot of fun. Smile

Quick Mixed Bunch Party Favor

Can you tell, I like this stamp set? 🙂  I know, I get a little addicted to stamps that have matching punches; but it makes things come together so quickly!

Well, for my recent show, I decided to make these easy little treats to hand out to people who stopped by my demonstrations.  I put my contact information on the back and it doubles as a business card!

All it takes is stamping one of the flowers from the Mixed Bunch stamp set in whatever color you like and punching it out with the Blossom punch.  Then punch out another flower in a complimentary cardstock and glue them together.  Adhere a Rolo (I used the Easter colored Rolos) to the center and you have a fun spring flower!

Tip:  If you are going to use Rolos or other foil wrapped candies, I recommend putting a glue dot in the center of your flower first and then press the candy to the flower.  I tried pressing the Rolo to the glue dot first but when I tried to pull off the glue dot, the foil would try to tear.

If you want to put a message on the back of your flower, I found the Avery return address labels work great when cut in half.  I just created a file in Word and typed my message on each label twice.  Then I could print out a whole bunch and just cut the labels in half with my paper cutter and they fit on great!

Reminder: Sale-a-Bration ends in 2 weeks!   There is still time to get your free items or to take advantage of the awesome special for joining Stampin’ Up!  But hurry, before the offer ends on March 31st.  Check out the Sale-a-Bration catalog for all the details and then email me at jennifer@nwstamper.com with your favorites and we’ll work together to get them for you!
