So, I kept forgetting to send a wedding congratulations card in the mail to my Uncle and so when I recently found out he and his wife are expecting their first child together, I knew I better get my rear in gear! As I started digging through my mom’s stamp sets (my DH and I are visiting my parents for the holiday), I found a saying in the Full of Life set that I thought perfectly covered both the wedding and the baby… then I turned to finding images that would cover both sentiments — Fun and Fast Notes to the rescue! Finally, this gave me a chance to use the new Love You Much stamp set for the red hearts. Plus, after stamping the hearts, I could easily punch them out using the new three heart punch.
It took a few different starts, stops, remeasuring moments, and lots of restyling, but in the end I’m really happy with the result (and it looks much cooler in person. You can see pieces of the card that are popped up on dimensionals, etc.) I also put a piece of cardstock on the inside of the card to make the ends of the ribbon look a little bit better. To add some oomph, I sponged the edge of the insert paper in Real Red. I may have to start finishing my insides more often! Hope they like it.
So, as I mentioned in an earlier post, at my Thank You card stack some of the ladies took my basic card design and reimagined it into a completely different card. To be honest, that is one of my favorite things about card parties and workshops. People start getting creative and you come away with so many cool ideas you never would have thought of. I always encourage folks to change up the designs and make them personal to them, ’cause cool stuff usually results.
I started out planning to copy one of the designs I saw someone make but ended up twisting it up into another new layout. I constrained myself to using only the materials (same stamps, same dimensions and colors of paper, same accessories). Yes, it is the same background paper – all the designer paper is double sided – so I chose to use the backside on the second card.
This is the original design
This is the exact same card materials as the original only in a totally different layout. Ok, I took out the small brown cardstock, but everything else is the same.

So, this is just a quick post to share some of the other items that I made for the craft fair. Unfortunately, there was not much traffic so I came home with most of what I took with me. However, being mostly paper crafts, they’ll last till the next one. 🙂
Embellished picture frame, flower pots (with actual seeds), decorated candles, chocolate filled containers, decorated york peppermint patties
After spending the week getting ready for the craft fair and my thank you card class on Saturday, we had a small group get together to make a set of 12 thank you cards.
It was a fun group and the creativity was really flowing. I was so impressed with the different ideas that people had on how to adapt the cards and try new things. I’m going to CASE some of their designs since they were so neat. In the meantime, here are the 3 cards we made.
Ack! I suddenly remembered that I forgot to post a sneak peak for the Thank you Stamp-a-Stack on Saturday. We will be making 12 cards total (4 each of 3 different designs) all for only $15! You should join us… you know you want to. : ) Anyway, here is a quick sample of one of the cards. Hope you like it!
This friday I’m participating in my first craft fair and it has been keeping me busy this week. I’ve been trying get my supplies in order and then power-craft to get everything ready to go. Last night, Kally came over to make up the cards for her blog candy (I can’t wait to see the pictures because I forgot to take some of my own!). We spent a while designing the cards and then she started putting them together while I worked on items for the craft fair. Here are the first couple of finished products I will be selling. They are gift card holders and a picture frame embellished with some rub-ons (on sale now!) and some designer paper and stamps.
If you have some time on Friday from 1-8pm, come visit me at the Holiday Bazaar at the College of Legal Arts – 8909 SW Barbur Boulevard, Portland, Oregon 97219!
